The Aviary Function Rooms told to stop alterations causing noise nuisance

The Aviary Function Rooms, at Blindsman Lane, are told to stop alterations that are causing noise nuisance to neighbours at night.

One local resident of the Aviary made a complaint that music and speeches could be heard from his home.

Another resident however said the noise from the venue wasn’t a problem.

Previously, the Aviary had submitted a ‘licensing variation application’ to West Lancashire Borough Council seeking permission to change its  ‘licensable activities’ so that it can better cater for events including weddings or birthday parties.

The application included seeking permission for external speakers to be used at a reasonable volume between 10am and 10pm, they also sought permission to open their exterior doors to increase ventilation and reduce covid risk.

At a licensing meeting, the Aviary was told to stop any alterations causing late-night noise nuisance to neighbours.

He added: “We have controls to measure the volume. Our staff are well-trained and three of them are also personal licence-holders. Our outdoor areas are closed at 10.30pm, we have signs reminding customers to respect our neighbours, we have put up a fence to prevent sound travelling and we have a free telephone for customers to book taxis, so they don’t need to make calls outside. We use two resident DJs who will also abide by the rules and we have music volume monitoring.”
