Ormskirk man begins a legal campaign to challenge the IOPC in the High Court

An Ormskirk man who was maliciously prosecuted by Lancashire police is now fighting for justice in bringing criminal action against the police witness for Perjury.

Mr Ponting was maliciously prosecuted in June 2014 and was acquitted of the charges. See report in the Liverpool Echo.

Within the proceedings, Paul Turner, who was a Police Informant, (a CHIS – Confidential Human Intelligence Source) who was acting as a witness for Lancashire police, knowingly lied on oath, intending the deceive the Courts into convicting the innocent man.

Lying on oath is a serious criminal offence of Perjury, Contrary to Section 1 of the Perjury Act 1911.

Now, eight years on, Mr Ponting is still fighting for justice against the informant after Lancashire police have refused to investigate the offence committed by their CHIS.  Not only that, the IOPC has refused to investigate, rejecting that a District Judge’s view that a criminal offence has occurred.
