Why Asa’s on song for success with his new children’s book!

Maghull’s Asa Murphy’s on song for success after releasing his second children’s book!

Asa, 49, who has sung Big Band Swing music and his self-penned songs all over the world, turned to writing during the first lockdown when his shows had to be cancelled.

He said:

“My singing work just disappeared. I had written a new show ‘Irish Annies’, which opened at the Epstein at the beginning of March, but that had to be put on hold.

“My first children’s book, ‘The monkey with no bum’, was released last year and featured illustrations by Helen Poole.
His second. ‘The Adventures of Vinegar Jim’, is a story of Jim and his adventures when he discovers a magical mixture of his favourite thing ever – vinegar.

“It’s aimed at young readers with some illustrations all done by myself.”

Said Asa:

“The release has gone very well with children loving the book and the illustrations. There are plans to turn it into a stage show, and a donation from every book sold goes to charity Liverpoolheartbeat

“I’m back performing this year with shows at Grand Central Hall in Liverpool, and a couple of local shows at the MCA club in Maghull on October 29, and on December 3., while I’ll be making continued appearances presenting on Radio Merseyside.”
