Praying – and sharing – together in Maghull

Maricourt and St George’s RC Primary pupils have enjoyed a special socially distanced liturgy.

Planned by Maricourt chaplain, Ken McCabe, it took place in the new prayer garden created in the grounds of St George’s.

Every child at St George’s wrote their own prayers that were laminated and added to the garden in the form of flowers, flags, decorative beads and prayer ribbons.

And students from Maricourt were able to add their own prayer ribbons as part of the celebration helping to bring the two schools together in prayer.

The garden (and staff) were blessed before reflections and a rousing rendition of ‘He’s got the whole world in his hands,’ completed the liturgy.

Pete Chapman, head at St George’s RC Primary, said:

“It was a very special occasion where our school families came together in prayer.

“We’re now making plans to develop our new prayer garden into a very special place for all our children.”
