Maghull pupils recovering after school accident drama

A dramatic story with a happy ending from St. George’s RC Primary, Maghull

From this week’s school newsletter:

On the way to school this week, two boys in Year 6 had an accident on their bikes.

We’re still unsure exactly what caused it but the boys crashed into each other and one went over the top of his handle bars.

Unfortunately, one of the boys was hospitalised with a bleed on the brain and both boys needed treatment at the scene by the paramedics.

Thankfully, both boys are OK now, although one of them did need to spend the night in hospital. It could have been much worse. They came to school as a group of friends but none of them were wearing their helmets.

While we encourage children to cycle and scoot, we can’t stress enough, how important bike helmets are. This incident could have been much worse and ended in a very different way.

Please, please ensure that your children are wearing helmets when they ride their bikes; it really could be a life saver!’
